Privacy notice

Overview

This website gets by with no user accounts, no database and no analytics or tracking tools. No cookies are set for advertising or analytics, and no profiling takes place.

We process personal data only where that is technically necessary to run the site, or where you write to us of your own accord.

Hosting and server log files

The site runs on Google Cloud Run, operated by Google Cloud EMEA Limited. The servers are in the europe-west1 region in Belgium, inside the European Union.

When you open the site, the server automatically records the data your browser sends: the address requested, the date and time, the volume transferred, the status code, browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL and IP address. We do not merge this data with other sources and do not attribute it to any individual.

The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is running the site securely and without faults. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the provider.

Typefaces

The site uses the typefaces Outfit and IBM Plex Mono. Both are downloaded when the site is built and served from our own server. Opening the site therefore creates no connection to Google's servers and sends no IP address there.

Browser storage

If you switch between the light and dark appearance, the site remembers your choice in your browser's local storage. The entry holds nothing but the word light or dark, is never transmitted to us, and says nothing about who you are.

It is stored solely because you chose it (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete it at any time through your browser settings.

Configurator

The table configurator does all of its arithmetic in your browser. Dimensions, timber and price never leave your device — unless you place an order.

Getting in touch

The order form sends what you enter to our own server and from there into our working chat on Slack: your name, email address, phone number and delivery address, your message and the table's configuration. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR, since an order is being set up.

The address search in the form queries Google Places. The request goes through our server, so your IP address is not passed to Google — only the text you type into the address field.

To guard against automated submissions we limit, for a short while, how many orders are accepted from one IP address. The address is held only transiently in memory and is not stored. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

If an order cannot be delivered, we write it to our server log so that it is not lost. That log then also holds your contact details, and is deleted automatically after 30 days.

If you write to us, we process what you tell us in order to deal with your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where an order is involved, and otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. We delete the message once it is dealt with and no retention period stands in the way — six years for business letters, ten for records that matter for tax.

Recipients

Apart from the hosting provider named above, we pass data to two places only, and only when you order: to Slack Technologies (Salesforce), where the order lands in our working chat, and to Google, which answers the address search. Both are based in the United States; the transfer rests on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

As long as you do not order, none of it leaves the EU. This site embeds no social networks, no videos and no advertising networks.

Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future.

An informal message to the email address above is enough for any of these.

Right to complain

You can complain to a data protection supervisory authority. The one responsible for us is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin.

Changes

We update this notice when the site or the law changes. The version published here is the one that applies.
